While I had always done art, I received a BA in Biology and MS in Geoscience and taught Science for 25 years. I started painting landscapes in my early 20's and have not stopped.
I use many different mediums, but primarily do an acrylic wash with oil applied over the acrylic producing a thick and thin rough texture which allows light to penetrate the canvas producing a soft glow. I also enamel metals such as copper and silver.
I enjoy hiking in my spare time and incorporate not only plants and animals of a particular place but rock formations, moving water and sky conditions such as clouds and light.
